Making the Flagels
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let it proof for 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and drained cottage cheese; add the proofed yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a flat bagel (flagel) form, and let them rest for 15 minutes.
- Brush the flagels with egg wash, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For best results, ensure your oven is preheated properly. Flagels are best enjoyed fresh, but can be frozen and reheated in a toaster.
