  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg large
Flavorings
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mixing
  1. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  4. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  2. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still slightly soft.
  3. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewiness, underbake the cookies slightly. You can also add a sprinkle of sea salt on top of the cookies before baking for a sweet and salty kick.
