Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the cottage cheese and self-rising flour, mixing until a dough forms.
- Gently knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a minute or two until it's smooth.
Forming the Flagels
- Divide the dough into three equal portions.
- Roll each portion into a rope, then flatten it slightly to create a flagel shape.
- Arrange the flagels on the prepared baking sheet.
Baking
- Brush the flagels with a beaten egg (optional, for a golden finish) and sprinkle generously with everything bagel seasoning.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the flagels cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving with your favorite toppings, such as cream cheese.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of garlic powder or onion powder to the dough. If you don't have self-rising flour, you can make your own by mixing 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour with 2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Adjust baking time as needed for desired crispness.
