Method

Preparation
  1. Wash and gently separate the lettuce leaves, then pat them dry and set aside.
  2. Prepare your chosen filling: cook any proteins thoroughly and chop all vegetables finely.
Cooking
  1. Heat a pan with a small amount of oil, then add minced garlic and grated ginger and sauté until fragrant.
  2. Add your chosen protein (chicken, turkey, tofu, or shrimp) and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Stir in the finely chopped vegetables and cook until tender-crisp.
  4. Add soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and sriracha then mix well to combine all flavors, and if using, add cooked rice vermicelli.
  5. Taste the filling and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more spice or sauce for your preference.
Assembling
  1. Spoon a desired amount of the warm filling into the center of each lettuce leaf.
  2. Garnish with fresh cilantro or mint, then fold or roll the lettuce leaves like a taco or burrito.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can marinate the protein in a little soy sauce and sesame oil before cooking. Feel free to experiment with different vegetables like water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, or mushrooms for added texture and nutrition. Serve with extra lime wedges and a side of peanut sauce for dipping.
