Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Drain the canned green beans thoroughly.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until well combined and smooth.
Assembly and Baking
- Stir the drained green beans into the soup mixture. Gently fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions.
- Pour the mixture into a 1.5-quart casserole dish. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
- Remove the casserole from the oven. Carefully sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of fried onions over the top. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy. Serve hot.
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can sauté fresh mushrooms and garlic to add to the soup mixture. For an extra crispy topping, mix a little melted butter with the fried onions before baking.
