Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Drain the canned green beans thoroughly.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper until well combined and smooth.
Assembly and Baking
  1. Stir the drained green beans into the soup mixture. Gently fold in 1 cup of the crispy fried onions.
  2. Pour the mixture into a 1.5-quart casserole dish. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
  3. Remove the casserole from the oven. Carefully sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of fried onions over the top. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and crispy. Serve hot.

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can sauté fresh mushrooms and garlic to add to the soup mixture. For an extra crispy topping, mix a little melted butter with the fried onions before baking.
