Preparation
- Whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a medium bowl for the sauce.
- Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season them with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add a tablespoon of oil.
- Sear the chicken thighs for 3-5 minutes per side until golden brown, then remove them from the skillet.
- Pour the sauce into the skillet and bring it to a simmer, cooking for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, coating it in the sauce, and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the chicken is cooked through and the sauce is glossy.
Thickening (Optional)
- In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
- Stir the slurry into the simmering sauce to further thicken it, if desired.
Serving
- Serve the honey garlic chicken immediately, garnished with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the chicken in half of the sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This recipe pairs well with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables.
