- Halve and pit the avocados, then scoop out the flesh into a medium bowl.
- Mash the avocado flesh with a fork or potato masher to your desired consistency.
- Stir in the lime juice, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño (if using), salt, and black pepper.
- Mix everything until well combined, but be careful not to overmix.
- Taste and adjust seasonings as needed, adding more salt, lime juice, or jalapeño for personal preference.
Notes
For best results, use ripe avocados that are slightly soft to the touch. To prevent browning, press a piece of plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before refrigerating. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a side with your favorite Mexican dishes.
