Preparation
- Combine sugar, milk, and butter in a large saucepan; bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly stir in the peanut butter, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
- Pour the warm fudge mixture into a prepared 8x8 inch baking dish and spread it evenly across the bottom.
- Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it is completely firm, then cut it into squares before serving.
Notes
For an extra smooth fudge, use a candy thermometer to ensure the mixture reaches precisely 234°F (112°C) or the soft-ball stage before removing from heat.
