  4. Refrigerate the fudge for at least 2 hours, or until it is completely firm, then cut it into squares before serving.

For an extra smooth fudge, use a candy thermometer to ensure the mixture reaches precisely 234°F (112°C) or the soft-ball stage before removing from heat.
