Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
Mixing and Baking
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
Cooling
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, use good quality chocolate chips. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate, such as milk chocolate or dark chocolate. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days, or freeze for longer storage.
