Falafel Preparation
- In a food processor, combine chickpeas, parsley, cilantro, garlic, onion, flour, baking powder, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper. Process until the mixture is well combined but still slightly chunky.
- Form the falafel mixture into small patties or balls, about 1-2 inches in diameter.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or pot over medium-high heat. Fry the falafel patties for 3-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Carefully remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Falafel Bowl Assembly
- Warm the pita bread according to package instructions.
- Assemble your falafel bowls by placing shredded lettuce at the bottom. Top with falafel patties, diced tomatoes, and diced cucumbers.
- Drizzle generously with tahini sauce over the falafel and vegetables.
- Serve immediately with warm pita bread on the side for a complete and satisfying falafel bowl.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the falafel mixture. Tahini sauce can be homemade or store-bought. You can also add other toppings like pickled turnips or hot sauce to your falafel bowl.
