Prepare the Falafel Mixture
- Drain the soaked chickpeas thoroughly then combine them with onion, parsley, cilantro, garlic, flour, baking powder, and spices in a food processor.
- Pulse the ingredients until a coarse mixture forms, making sure it's not too smooth, and then refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
Form and Fry the Falafel
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C) then scoop about 1 tablespoon of the mixture for each falafel and shape it into a small patty or ball.
- Carefully place the falafel into the hot oil, frying them in batches for 3-5 minutes until they are golden brown and cooked through.
Serve
- Remove the fried falafel with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve the falafel warm with pita bread, tahini sauce, or your favorite additions.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce to the falafel mixture. Ensure the oil temperature is maintained to achieve a crispy exterior and fully cooked interior.
