Instructions
- Marinate the chicken by combining chicken pieces with soy sauce, cornstarch, and egg in a bowl; set aside for 15 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, water, sesame oil, and chili flakes in a separate bowl.
- Dredge the marinated chicken by tossing it in a mixture of flour and cornstarch until fully coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on a wire rack.
- Remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the wok. Add grated ginger and minced garlic, stir-frying for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the prepared sauce and cook until it thickens, stirring constantly.
- Add the fried chicken to the wok, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
- Serve the General Tso's Chicken immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
For extra crispy chicken, consider deep-frying instead of pan-frying. Adjust chili flakes to your spice preference. Serve immediately with steamed white rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
