Method

Instructions
  1. Marinate the chicken by combining chicken pieces with soy sauce, cornstarch, and egg in a bowl; set aside for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare the sauce by whisking together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sugar, cornstarch, water, sesame oil, and chili flakes in a separate bowl.
  3. Dredge the marinated chicken by tossing it in a mixture of flour and cornstarch until fully coated.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on a wire rack.
  5. Remove excess oil, leaving about 1 tablespoon in the wok. Add grated ginger and minced garlic, stir-frying for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the prepared sauce and cook until it thickens, stirring constantly.
  7. Add the fried chicken to the wok, tossing to coat evenly with the sauce.
  8. Serve the General Tso's Chicken immediately, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

For extra crispy chicken, consider deep-frying instead of pan-frying. Adjust chili flakes to your spice preference. Serve immediately with steamed white rice and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
