Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt, then mix well.
- Gradually add the warm milk, melted butter, and egg to the dry ingredients, mixing until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
First Rise
- Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, gently punch down the dough to release the air.
Shaping and Second Rise
- Divide the dough into three equal pieces and shape each into a smooth ball.
- Place the shaped rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cover loosely with plastic wrap, and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare the egg wash by whisking the beaten egg with water.
- Brush the tops of the risen rolls with the egg wash.
- Bake for 18-25 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.
Cooling
- Transfer the baked rolls to a wire rack and let them cool completely before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can brush the baked rolls with melted butter immediately after removing them from the oven.
