Prepare the filling
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly butter a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine the blackberries, sugar, flour, and lemon juice, then toss gently to coat the berries.
- Pour the blackberry mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
Make the topping
- In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter with a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the milk and mix until just combined, forming a soft dough.
Assemble and bake
- Drop spoonfuls of the dough over the blackberry filling.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving; it's delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Notes
For an extra touch, sprinkle a tablespoon of sugar over the topping before baking for a slightly crispier crust.
