Preparation
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined and a thick batter forms.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
Frying
- Heat vegetable oil in a large heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Carefully drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, frying a few at a time without overcrowding the pot.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the fritter bites with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Glaze
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Dip each warm apple fritter bite into the glaze, or drizzle the glaze over them, ensuring they are fully coated.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the dry ingredients. Ensure oil temperature is maintained for best frying results.
