Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg, orange zest, and orange extract until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined and a soft dough forms.
- Divide the dough equally into three portions and roll each portion into a ball.
- Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them a few inches apart, and gently flatten each ball with the palm of your hand.
Baking
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set.
- Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For an extra orange flavor, you can add a simple orange glaze made from powdered sugar and orange juice after the cookies have cooled.
