Preparation
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Mixing
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and orange zest. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the dark chocolate chips.
Baking
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
- Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra orange flavor, add a few drops of orange extract along with the orange zest. These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
