  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1.5 cups dark chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract and orange zest. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in the dark chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are still soft.
  2. Remove from oven and let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra orange flavor, add a few drops of orange extract along with the orange zest. These cookies are best enjoyed fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
