Ingredients

Brownie Batter
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted butter (113g)
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar (200g)
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour (60g)
  • 1/4 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder (25g)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 cup Chocolate chips (optional, 85g)

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • 9x13 inch baking pan
  • Spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Microwave-safe bowl

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the unsalted butter.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with granulated sugar, then whisk in the large eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
Baking
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  2. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
Serving
  1. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, do not overbake; a toothpick inserted into the center should come out with moist crumbs, not wet batter.
