Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 12-cup muffin pan with paper liners.
Mixing the Batter
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate large bowl, cream together the softened butter and eggs until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.
Baking
  1. Divide the batter evenly among the prepared muffin cups, filling each about two-thirds full.
  2. Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  3. Let the cupcakes cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom to the dry ingredients. You can also frost these cupcakes with your favorite buttercream or cream cheese frosting once they are completely cooled.
