Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 1 kg Potato boiled and mashed
  • 250 g All-purpose flour
  • 1 Egg large
  • 1 tsp Salt
For Serving
  • Your favorite sauce e.g., tomato, pesto, butter and sage

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Boil and mash the potatoes until smooth, then let them cool.
Forming the Dough
  1. Combine the mashed potatoes, flour, egg, and salt on a clean surface to form a soft dough.
  2. Gently knead the dough until it just comes together, being careful not to overwork it.
Shaping Gnocchi
  1. Roll small portions of dough into long ropes about 1.5 cm thick, then cut into 2 cm pieces.
  2. Create ridges by gently rolling each piece against a fork or gnocchi board, or leave them smooth.
Cooking
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a gentle boil, then cook the gnocchi in batches.
  2. The gnocchi are done when they float to the surface; remove them with a slotted spoon.
Serving
  1. Serve the gnocchi immediately with your favorite sauce.

Notes

For best results, use starchy potatoes. Avoid overworking the dough to keep the gnocchi tender. You can freeze uncooked gnocchi on a floured baking sheet before transferring to an airtight container.
