Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 12 rolls Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 2 large eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter for cooking
Toppings (Optional)
  • powdered sugar
  • maple syrup
  • fresh berries

Equipment

  • Medium bowl
  • Whisk
  • Sharp knife
  • Large non-stick skillet or griddle
  • Spatula

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Slice each Hawaiian roll in half horizontally, similar to a mini bun.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the butter.
  2. Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are coated but not saturated.
  3. Place the coated roll halves onto the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serving
  1. Remove the French toast from the skillet and arrange on a plate.
  2. Dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with maple syrup, and top with fresh berries as desired.

Notes

For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the egg mixture. Be careful not to over-soak the rolls, as they can become soggy quickly.
